Today I realized I was trying to say things that didn't need to be said.
Sometimes words are just NEVER ENOUGH!
So today just as I decided a picture is worth a thousand words. I also decided to add some words that I think Duchess Sammy would be pleased to hear.
A wonderful poem that was shared on our friend Jean Ballard's blog "My Life With The Critters"
It was sent to Jean by her friend Gail, shortly after Jean's Beloved Charley passed away in 2011. Thank you for sharing this Jean!

To a poor and lonely Stray, I'd give my happy home.
My bowl and cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys.
The lap, which I loved so much, the tender loving touch.
The hand that stroked my fur, and sweet voice which called my name.
I'd will to the sad, scared shelter dog, the place I had in my human's loving heart,
of which there seemed no bounds.
So when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again,
for the loss and pain is more than I can stand."
Instead, go find an unloved dog.
One whose life has held no joy or hope, and give MY place to HIM or HER.
This is the only thing that I can give .....The love I left behind.
This is my inheritance! My Last Will and Testament.

This brought tears to my eyes. I love the beautiful urn and the photo beside it - a fine remembrance of a beautiful girl whose Last Will and Testament has benefitted Lady May. Duchess Sammy, you shall never be forgotten and always be loved.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for everything you have done for us Aunty Jean. I REALLY hope one day our physical paths will cross and we can break bread together. XOX
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss... Duchess Sammy was a beautiful creature and will be sorely missed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sonia. It has been a hard time. We are only now able to smile and remember all the good times when we talk about our Duchess Sammy.
DeleteAfter reading the poem above, several times over several weeks, we decided it would be what Duchess wanted, for us to bring another unwanted poor soul into our fold.
We have adopted the unwanted Little Lady May. Please feel free to visit her videos on www.youtube.com/user/kingsurvives2008

This is a sad and touching at the same time. I sympathize for your loss. I know no dog can ever replace Sammy but I believe Little Lady May is special in her own distinct way. I hope both of you are fine!

Thank you very much David. You are so right. When we think of our beloved Dushess Sammy we now smile and remember how much love she had to give us. We still shed a tear and Im sure we always will.
ReplyDeleteThen we look at Our Little Lady May and giggle at her. She has put such a spark back into our family!
As one flower wilts... so does it drop a seed for new growth.
We are all well again.
